We look forward to seeing you at session 2 in SUB 309
Friday, April 5 from 2-4 pm.
This 6-week program is designed for Adams State University leadership, faculty, and staff who are not only interested in developing their own toolkit for managing stress reactivity, overwhelm, and burnout in their professional role and personal life, but who also have the desire to deepen their understanding of mindfulness as a foundation for connecting with colleagues and students in a meaningful way.
Each in-person session will be 2 hours in length, and will include access to audio recordings of meditations, printable pdf posters and reflection worksheets, and video recordings of sessions. This course is structured as group psycho-education and will be facilitated with a focus on trauma-sensitivity, collective resourcing, equity, and inclusion.
The course is derived from Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy and includes seated, standing, and lying down practices, yoga and mindful movement, mindful walking and eating, and games and other strategies for engaging youth. The intention is to develop a routine of self-care that supports showing up in your leadership roles and in the classroom as a calm, non-reactive presence, and cultivating resilience and compassion towards self and other.
Attendance at the orientation session is required for participation. Registrants will complete a brief pre-screening to determine suitability for the program, and should expect to attend all six sessions in person to maximize the benefits for themselves and support co-creating safety for the whole-school community.
Program cost to participants: $0. This program is provided at no cost to faculty and staff of Adams State.
Incentives to participate:
Wear casual/comfortable clothes on Fridays
Rest and learn meditation during work hours
Connect with your colleagues and with yourself
Improve your wellbeing and mental health
Professional development credit awarded upon completion
